Last night I was talking to a young man at work and found that he had a rigorous schedule outside of work. What impressed me most was that he has stopped watching TV at age 19. He has also reduced his computer time. He discovered quickly that by doing this he reads more, hikes more, has more energy and enjoys life more!
He did not mention writing however. In our fast paced environment, few people take the time to write down their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Long ago diaries and journals were part of many people’s lives. Their uses are profound and plentiful. Here a short list of some benefits and hanother list of how to begin.
1) Goal setting
2)Persoanl work
3)Tracking your life
4)Improving health
5) DIscharging emotions
6)Inner reflection
7)Creating new perspectives
Brainstorming
9)Gratitude
10) Integrating brain function
You could possibly add many more. Journaling helps pyschological growth. Improves problem solving, and relieves stress. Here’s a few ways to get started.
1) Buy a nice hard bound blank journal or sketchbook.
2) Alternative get a cheap small spiral bound note book.
3) Buy 2 or 3 different pens
4) Manually writing creates different brain paths than digital writing. You can use both.
5) Write anything that comes to mind.
6) Create short periods of time daily (optimally) where you can write for 10 to 60 minutes.
7) Wreite. Don’t worry about grammar, sentences, spelling, simply write, sketch, etc. JUst get started.
