Happy New Year - time for some structure

If you’ve been coming here daily for tips, you know, because the title of the blog is Life Tips Daily, you have more likely than not been disappointed. I apologize and I’ll give you a couple of insights and tips about this site.

Although every attempt will be made to update at least five times a week, I may only manage to update three times a week. This is still a good thing because it will be a more regular update than I have been doing for the last two months.

I also want to make sure that you don’t waste your precious time clicking on the link to this site (which is hopefully still in your bookmarks or favourites) when there is no new content. One way you can avoid the disappointment is by subscribing to this blog’s feed. The location of the best explanation that I have ever read of what feeds are, and how they work, has eluded me, but here’s Wikipedia’s say on the matter, though it is not easiest to understand explanation.

What you need to know is this:

  1. A format of this blog called a feed is available.
  2. If you have a feed reader (which is free and doesn’t require you to install anything), you can use your feed reader to subscribe to blogs such as Life Tips Daily or Getting Crafty and all the other wonderful blogs that you read faithfully. By subscribing, what you are doing is ensuring that any updates to the sites you subscribe to are sent to your feed reader. That way when you login to your feed reader, you have all the new entries from various blogs waiting for you. You no longer have to go to the actual blogs unless you want to comment (and please do comment!). :)
  3. If this sounds like a cool thing (and it is!), the two feed readers I recommend are Google Reader and Bloglines.

And if you’re sneaky and leave Google Reader running in the background, you’ll get little updates all through the day letting you know which bloggers have some fresh content for you.

I also want you to know that I really do appreciate your feedback, so even if all you want to say is “This entry isn’t very useful!” , please leave your comment. I take your comments very seriously and they are considered when deciding on future topics.

And now that I’ve told you what I’m planning to do to give this blog some more structure, I must let you know that change is inevitable and you may notice some changes around here that I haven’t mentioned. I will make sure to let you know what I know as soon as I know.

Finally: Happy New Year! May 2008 be all about health and living the best life possible!
