Cook meat once, eat twice
by Jummy

If you’re the family cook, you may have already figured this one out. Instead of defrosting and cooking meat twice, why not cook double the amount and store half for later? This way you’re ahead of the game when it comes to preparing the next meal.

There is actually a cookbook titled “cook once, eat twice”. It’s slightly misleading, because there is some preparation the second time. You cook your meal in the crock pot the first time, and save half of the meat for the second recipe. It’s worth checking out.

I always cook up 2 or 3 times as much ground pork or chicken when I do it and then freeze the cooked meat to use later. It’s easy (and quick) to reheat to use in tacos/nachos or to add to plain pasta sauce.
