Ageing? Let the elders speak up!

Stay strong!
Ever get tired of a pretty young face lecturing you on what we should do to stay young? I used to be one of those young ones. Remarkably, I was gentler then. I gave my Mom something to read or try, and let her do what she wanted to. Luckily for me, Mom became enthused and took off researching and learning on her own. Here a curious 5 tip article by China-Rose Reid, a doula, herbalist in Napa (Ca?).

1) Mobility. Feldencris, yoga, tai chi are all ways to keep your flexibility. I marvel at a co-workers strength and flexibility. His yoga and tai chi serves him well and he has greater mobility in his sixites than many of the 30 year olds in his department. When moving about decreases so does mood, attitude, and confidence. Add gardening to this group.
2) Choose your supplements to meet your individual needs. If it ain’t broke you don’t need to fix it. Maybe it still would be smart to take some joint supps 1-3 times a week. Ditto fish oil. However you don’t have to create a $200 a month habit if you have no problems. However if you are taking medications, then a prudent review of your health would benefit by adding various supplements. Especially for damage control and increased energy.
3)Play, stay active and cultivate a positive attitude. Adults often become too serious. Lighten up. Play with grandkids some. Tell jokes. Play games. An active lifestyle does more for mental well being than almost any supplement. I love Holy Basil. Also Rescue remedy. And swinging.
4) Bone health is becoming a controversial subject. Please do research on this topic. Calicum is the least important mineral. Exercise is your best friend. Other minerals that help: boron, silica (also horsetail the herb) collagen, magnesium, Vitamin D3. Vit K for some people. Check with the literature and your practioner.
5) The brain. Start reading. Ginkgo can spike blood pressure. COQ10 seems to be good support. B-complex works well. Read what the B’s do. Amino acids. Maybe niacinimide (in the B groups) Pro-biotics. If your brain is still sharp, choose one or two products. I like supplements that do multiple activities. COQ10 is in every cell in your body. Read how probiotics can feed the brain, ditto the b vitamins. More on the brain another time.
