Add your tips for Keeping Kids Healthy!

Plant healthy happy attitudes
Just read an article by Julie Plunket from San Diego. SHe’s a medical herbalist. I am no pro but a life long health nut who reads a lot (and have tried a few things). Her article, and do read: http://image.pharmaca-wellmail.com/lib/feef1c75736203/m/1/Top+5+Habits4Healthy+Kids.pdf
Hmmm, of all that we do to help kids stay healthy, what are my top 5?
1) Teach your kids about GOOD food. Old fashioned breakfasts seem outdate. However be very cautious with the slick new substitues. READ the labels. Cut sugar, fructose ( made from corn), soy, etc. It would be better to have sandwiches, cold hard boil eggs, leftovers from the night before, fruit, nuts, or veggies than the over processed alternatives.
Encourage them to create their breakfast before supper. Perhaps the family could even make healthy muffins, breads (zuchinni bread, cranberry bread…always add nuts) Yogurt is a fairly safe snack. Have it ready to grab aand go. USe oats whenever possible. Less processed, and NO SUGAR!
2) Brain food. Fish, fish oil, dha. There are more. Google brain food for kids. A good breakfast and a little healthy oil can keep them alert for many hours. If the brain is well fed: they get along in school better, increase their focus, and modulate their moods. Try to find food options before supplements. A good multi vitamin mineral is a good idea too.
3) Fun! Playtime. Here they learn to relax, socialize, and work off a lot of stress. All aspects of play encourage the body to build a healthier immune system. Also confidence and a positive outlook.
4) Music and imagination and art. Fill in the blanks. They need to both learn, but have time alone to develop their own thoughts and style.
5) Love, probiotics, and rest. Seem like too easy a recipe. We all crave love. They need you NOW, and more. They need to learn from you. They need to feel secure, even the teenagers.
Also probiotics. 70% of your immune system is in your gut. Healthy flora needs to be there to eradicate an overgrowth of toxic waste from the “other bacteria”. Save the herbs for when the kids are ill. Probiotics will always thrive. Imagine your kids as healthy and strong with a happy immune system.
